Peace & Power (Gloves)
2020
Acrylic paint, impasto crackled house paint and spray paint, solid paint markers on cotton glove used in the creation of many murals
7”W x 10”H x 1”D
These gloves were some of the tools I used while painting many murals outdoors. Covered with layers of paint they took on a life of their own and I finally made them into artworks with their own words. One glove has text and design embodiments of the word PEACE, while the other glove became POWER.
Fly Free Unity
2019
Mixed media, acrylic paint, charcoal, feathers on shaped wood
24” round x 1”D
Painting on found shaped circular piece of wood with mixed media. Image of a rising raptor energetically spreading its wings in flight with expressively painted text reading "Fly Free Unity" painted in a bold bright rainbow of colors.
Nervous Till I Started LUV
2019
Mixed media, acrylic paint on found metal street sign
12” square x 1”D
This street sign was a warning to encourage safety. The hybrid character Hurt Heart cowers and flails with triple segmented aortic arms and slit eyelids. The text inspired by the 15 MPH sign reads - Nervous Till I Started LUV. Colors radiate and the composition creates a beginning stage for the Hurt Heart to start its healing journey of love.

Still Here (mask)
2021
Acrylic paint, glitter, ink, pastels and paint markers on wood panel
10”W x 14”H x 0.5”D
This large mask in the style of a Mexican Day of the Dead honoring of the past ancestors serves the different, perhaps opposite, function of boldly proclaiming a continuing success at survival. Painted after Covid took so many souls this calavera skull has a direct smile and entrancing mandala eyes with a glittery floral growing motif. The text reads - Still Here - boldly.
